Religious Education

At Urchfont Church of England Primary School, Religious Education is an important and valued part of our curriculum. Through engaging, enquiry-led learning, children develop a secure understanding of Christianity as a diverse global living faith, alongside a range of other religious and non-religious worldviews.

RE gives children a safe and respectful space to ask big questions, explore different perspectives and think deeply about meaning, identity, belief and belonging. We encourage children to be curious, thoughtful and courageous in their questioning, to listen respectfully to others and to recognise that thoughtful disagreement can be handled with kindness and understanding.

Our curriculum is taught from EYFS to Year 6, following the Wiltshire Agreed Syllabus and supported by Understanding Christianity and The Emmanuel Project.

Through RE, we aim to develop children who are knowledgeable, curious, reflective and respectful, with the confidence and understanding they need to live well with others in our diverse world.
