The CUSP Curriculum

We are delighted to be implementing the CUSP (Curriculum with Unity Schools Partnership) curriculum at Urchfont C of E Primary School from September 2026.

CUSP is an ambitious, carefully sequenced and evidence-informed curriculum which supports children to develop a rich body of knowledge, skills and understanding. Learning is carefully connected and builds cumulatively over time, enabling children to make links with what they already know and helping important knowledge to be remembered and understood.

At Urchfont, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian vision:

“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13

We want every child to recognise their own potential, develop a love of learning and have the confidence and strength to embrace challenge. We believe that CUSP will support us in bringing this vision to life through a curriculum which is ambitious for every child and encourages curiosity, independence and a desire to know and understand more.

Our six Christian values of Respect, Compassion, Perseverance, Joy, Wisdom and Courage remain at the heart of school life and underpin the way in which our children experience their curriculum. Through their learning, we want children to have the courage to challenge themselves, the perseverance to keep going when learning is difficult, the wisdom to make connections and ask thoughtful questions, and the joy that comes from discovering and achieving.

CUSP also places a strong emphasis on developing children's vocabulary, making meaningful connections within and across subjects, and regularly revisiting previous learning. This helps children to build secure foundations on which future learning can grow.

As we implement CUSP, we will continue to ensure that our curriculum reflects the needs of the children of Urchfont, our local community and our distinctive Christian character.
